Experience War in a Whole New Way

Take a trip into Outer Space to engage in a first person shooter game that promises to be a whole lot of fun. While PlanetSide 2 has proven to be very popular among PlayStation 4 users, does the action translate well to the PC? There’s only one way to find out; check out the review.

Getting to groups with PlanetSide can be rather tricky at first. There is a lot to do in the game but a serious lack of instructions. This can cause players to wander aimlessly for a while, especially if they are new to this type of game. The learning curve is very steep and the game can almost be dauntingly difficult at first.

The mechanics are also far from easy and intuitive and the only real way to know what to do is trial by error. Even experienced gamers may well find that they get things wrong more often than they get them right at first and this can be more than a little frustrating.

As you would expect from a first person shooter game, there are lots of different weapons to choose from. The battles are so vibrant and realistic that they sometimes seem to explode off the screen and players who manage to get through the first confusing stages are sure to be glad that they made the effort.

Just when you think you have a handle on things, new challenges emerge to throw you off course. Players have their choice of several different vehicles, which will transport them to various different areas of the gaming world. However, the controls of the vehicles are in no way easy to use and players will be forced to go to battle with the game mechanics once again before they can put their new mean machines to the test.

One gamers figure out what to do, PlanetSide 2 can be a lot of fun. The large battles can be very exciting and making alliances and kicking butt is great. However, inexperienced players may find that the game goes over their head at first and it is all too tempting to simply throw in the towel rather than go through a long and drawn out learning process.

Pros

  • Exciting and large scale battles
  • Diverse combat styles and terrain
  • Easy to form teams

Cons

  • A very steep learning curve
  • Can be difficult to get to grips with
  • Too many bugs in the game
